When Arch Apothecary announced they were opening a new retail location in Milwaukee's third ward, we were honored to be asked to design two custom pieces of furniture for them.
The first piece we designed was an extra-large bar cart - perfect for the festive atmosphere of the Arch store. To complement the beautiful wooden beams and exposed brick of the location, we designed a bar cart with a rustic industrial vibe. For the frame of the bar cart, we utilized industrial piping (made in the U.S.) and custom fabricated steel parts, including custom wheels. For the two shelves, we custom sourced reclaimed Douglas Fir barnwood. Both the steel frame and the wood shelving were crafted by local artisans in Iowa. In terms of finishes, we opted to leave the shelves a natural barnwood color to best showcase the beautiful reclaimed wood. We powder coated the steel frame and piping in a combination of a matte black for a sleek look and an antique gold to add a glam finish (fit for a beauty store!).
For the second piece, we designed a custom storage console for the team at Arch to use as a gift wrapping station. For this piece, we aimed to create a piece that was both functional and beautiful, with a rustic yet glam aesthetic. We collaborated with a local Madison woodworker and set designer to craft the storage console utilizing reclaimed Wisconsin barn wood for the top and exterior and mini sliding bar doors on the front. We custom painted the barnwood top to give it a "distressed" look and a pop of lilac color. We also custom painted the sliding door hardware to give it a touch of gold and a slightly glam look to match the rest of the beauty store.
We think the pieces turned out beautifully and we love seeing these beautiful one-of-a-kind pieces in Arch's Milwaukee store!
